The Oranges & Lemons Story

When I moved back to India from Canada, I brought home a new perspective on what a nursery could be. Living abroad, I had become accustomed to certain standards of eco-conscious quality; back home, I found myself searching for that same level of purity for my own child.

As a commercial artist from Sir J.J. School of Art, I viewed the nursery as a space where art and safety must coexist. After the birth of my son, Kian, I searched for baby products that was truly sustainable and designs that moved away from 'typical' baby clichés. I wanted items that were gentle enough for a newborn’s skin but sophisticated enough for a modern home. When I couldn’t find them, I decided to create them.

Oranges & Lemons was born from that search. As a mother and an entrepreneur, I know that every choice we make for our children matters. That’s why we use only the finest materials, ethically sources - combining international quality standards with the soul of Indian craftsmanship

Oranges & Lemons is a sustainable baby and nursery brand founded in 2018 by Sharmeen Lokhandwala, a commercial artist and alumna of Sir J.J. School of Art. Based in India, Oranges & Lemons creates eco-conscious, non-toxic baby essentials — including baby bedding, swaddles, blankets and nursery accessories — using ethically sourced materials and Indian craftsmanship.

The brand focuses on ultra-soft, safe fabrics and minimal, modern designs, offering parents thoughtfully designed nursery products that are kind to delicate skin, beautiful in contemporary homes and gentle on the planet.
